Unobtanium has seen better days for sure; the lacking amount of use cases for the resource have left it in an absolute free fall. It is our jobs as stewards of these economies to provide better outcomes for the ecosystem of Tezotopia.
We have on the docket two changes that will improve the use of UNO: The introduction of UNO Shards and UNO Degen Battles.
These two solutions will be the quickest to turn-around and push to production, so expect them in the coming weeks.
UNO Shards
As of today, Ticket To Mint prices will increase from 0.25 UNO to 1 UNO. This is the another step toward slowing down emission rates. Tickets to Mint will eventually be deprecated and the only way to mint land will be UNO.
In order to slow down the rate of creating new land we are introducing UNO Shards + Direct UNO purchase to create new blocks of land.
How will it work?
You will no longer need a ticket to mint a new block. Instead, minting a block of land will cost 20 UNO or 5 UNO Shards. Each UNO Shard represents 4 UNO. Players will earn UNO Shards within lootboxes, at first, 50 shards will be distributed daily: this amount may decrease or increase based on feedback.
Players will be allowed to come in with a full 20 UNO to mint their block outright, or with a combination amount (i.e. 3 Shards + 8 UNO) or with the full 5 Shards necessary to mint. All the Shards and UNO will be burned upon use.
Shards will become a marketplace item and can be transfered, sold, bought, traded like any other NFT.
Rewarding users in different ways through lootboxes is on our constant roadmap and we are hopeful that Shards will become a welcomed replacement to Tickets to Mint as they will hold value, provide players with a goal of collecting more than just 1, and eventually allowing warlords to mint a block of land all while keeping emission rates down.
UNO Degen Battles
One obvious inspiration for us has been Tezos Degen Club’s Degen Battles, their model of quickly matching up and battling an opponent for tokens is *chef’s kiss*—And we’re bringing that same model to Tezotopia battles.
Players will soon be able to queue up a battle by setting a wager in UNO, and will work in the following workflow:
Player A sets a Live Challenge with a 2 UNO wager.
Player B selects Player A’s challenge and locks in the 2 UNO necessary to initiate the battle.
4 UNO is locked.
Gif Games takes 10% of the total wager (0.4 UNO) and burns it.
Battle ensues.
Player A comes out victorious.
Player A is rewarded the remaining 1.6 UNO and is returned 3.6 UNO total.
Player B is a loser and everybody sees it on the history ledger.
We all laugh.
Adding a a burn mechanism to these wagers will further take UNO out of circulation, and lead to some exciting wagers for battles unseen in lootboxes at the moment.
Buy Back & Burn
Some other further explorations we have in place is to Buy Back & Burn certain resources. We are researching the best approach on this, do expect to hear more about buying resources to burn off the supply.
No clear path forward on this just yet, but thought it was worth a mention and probably some discussion from the community could help direct us as well.
All-in-all these are the use cases for UNO we have planned on the short-term, and we do have more on the larger roadmap. These are the quickest solutions, while others will take us a lot longer to implement.
Thanks everybody for your patience and do know we are always actively listening and taking into consideration all your feedback, so keep sounding off.
Bravo!!
Well played.
