Since things move along so quickly, and we are progressing at fast rates with new developments, collaborations, and partnerships, we are beginning to put into practice a bi-monthly report: one in the form of a blog post and another in the form of an AMA either hosted by us or sponsored on another community channel. This month, Joab will be speaking at the Tezos Commons TezTalk on March 31, and this blog is fulfilling the other end of communication for the month.
BATTLE READY
We are getting extremely close to our development benchmarks for releasing the battles this month. Things are shaping out to be a lot more fast-paced and exciting, a new UI is being introduced this week, we are including a new dynamic to gameplay in the form of ENR drops onto the battlefield, and Wave 1 is advantageous once again.
Energy Drops For Unit Repairs
Energy pods are being dropped into the battlefield representing 50-100 ENR; there will be 5 to 6 pods randomly dispersed throughout the map that will be claimable by players to add to their battle bounty.
All units will auto-repair to 50% after a set amount of time, we are playing with 3-6 hours of auto-repair timing, to allow players to jump right into battle even with half-healed units.
To fully repair, players will have to use ENR they gather from the battlefield or through the QuipuSwap exchange.
The formula for costs associated with repairing is as follows:
(5 * HP) * DEF = ENR Amount needed to instantly repair a unit
If your unit needs 4 HP to fully recover and their DEF modifier is 5, the cost would be 100 ENR to repair the unit instantly.
Battle Launch
Once we launch our battles onto Mainnet this month, we will provide the community with a full roadmap of expectations for the future. What’s being worked on and what to expect in upcoming releases. The battles will continue to evolve, but we want to release a boilerplate V1 where we can constantly be improving as things progress.
In conjunction with TzDropz we will be working to onboard new players within the Tezos ecosystem by dropping Battle Crates that will include 3 battle units to allow new users to get started with Tezotopia. Battle Crates will be claimable within the app, generating new user accounts, and immersing them into the app from day one.
Be on the lookout as well for sponsored tournaments this Summer with prize pools of up to $25,000 to $50,000 USD. Start building your armies and storing your ENR, fam. It’s about to get real.
MATTERLIGHT
The trading card game we’ve been working on behind the scenes is getting ready for prime time.
About 3000 Years after the first BONKEE harvester robots were sent to the planet Lorekin and 2000 years after the Tezotopians migrated beyond the Infinite Continents, the faint memory of Unobtanium remained within the bloodlines of those that became known as Matterlights…
Archetype individuals with special abilities formed factions in the dystopian landscape of Metzopia, the largest city in all of Lorekin–the landing site of the first Tezotopian exodus. These Matterlights, individuals with Unobtanium in their blood, became the guardians of Unobtanium, protecting sectors of property within Metzopia and waging war amongst themselves in an effort to obtain more Unobtanium.
The Matterlights discovered they could convert UNO into a light force—mana, which powered their special abilities and kept their armies strong during battle.
Version 1.0 of Matterlight will include 14 different characters, each carrying their own special abilities and traits, the first edition Matterlight card packs will be released this Summer, and the game shortly thereafter.
You will be able purchase game decks that will include 3 random Matterlight playing cards within them. We’ll sell single packs, double, and triple packs, and if our Battle Crate drop sees success, we will follow the same model to onboard players by dropping game decks on Tezos ecosystem wallets.
Pricing (subject to change):
Single Pack (3 Cards) - 4xtz
Double Pack (6 Cards) - 7xtz
Triple Pack (9 Cards- 9xtz
We expect to have these run on a limited run, and cards based on rarity will cease to be minted based on their supply. More info on this as time progresses.
RESOURCE UTILITY
We do believe one of the original sins of Tezotopia was having so many tokenized in-game assets. We go back and forth on whether we should reel it in and just focus on Unobtanium, but we also see an opportunity to create a continuum of games with many ecosystem tokens. We are embracing our wayward options and finding utility for each of our resources. The shortlist below is some of things coming up and already in place for use cases for our tokens:
UNO
Used to create certain buildings & units
Stake X Amount of UNO to produce Artifacts
UNO-priced stock artifacts
UNO for Mana (Light force) within Matterlight
UNO as a currency in Metzopia
MIN
Used to create certain buildings
Stake X Amount of MIN to produce Glyphstones
Use MIN to create building blocks within Metzopia
ENR
Used to create certain buildings & units
Used to repair battle units
Used to recharge Glyphstones
MCH
Used to create certain buildings & units
Initiate bombardment/artillery strikes within Battles
Initiate Spy unit tasks
Build exploration devices to seek resources & land beyond our humble Tezotopia…
This an so much more is going on behind the scenes. We are working hard to push Tezotopia and the ecosystem we are creating to the next level.
We’ll continue to inform you of the latest as it comes into fruition. And mark your calendars for March 31 for Joab’s TezTalk.
